Doug Wright Holland is an urban planner who has worked in Denver, Colorado since 1973. During his tenure in the city, he has played a significant role in the development and growth of the metropolitan area.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 25, 1940, Doug Wright Holland earned his bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1962. He then went on to earn his master’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1963. Following his graduate studies, he began his career as a planner for the city of Detroi

In 1973, Holland moved to Denver and became a senior planner for the city. In this position, he oversaw planning and development for both the urban core and outlying neighborhoods of Denver. His work has had a significant impact on the city’s growth and development over the past three decades.

Douglas Wright Holland was born on October 5, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. His early life was marked by tragedy as his father died when he was just six years old. Holland attended the University of Kansas where he played baseball and football. After graduating from college, Holland served in the United States Navy for three years. After leaving the military, Holland moved to Los Angeles where he started his career as a television writer and producer. In 1973, Holland wrote and produced the popular show “The Streets of San Francisco”. He also wrote and produced several other successful TV shows including “Charlie’s Angels”, “M*A*S*H”, and “The Waltons”.

Doug Wright Holland founded Holland America Line in 1934, becoming its first president. The company quickly became known for its innovative and luxurious shipboard experiences, and today operates a fleet of 16 sailings annually between North America and Europe. In 1935, Doug Wright Holland enrolled in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study engineering and aviation. After graduating from college in 1939, Doug Wright Holland started his career as an engineer with the Glenn L. Martin Company. In 1942, he became the director of development for the Martin Aircraft Company.

In 1950, Doug Wright Holland co-founded the aerospace company Douglas Aircraft Company with Donald Douglas. Doug Wright Holland served as the president and CEO of Douglas Aircraft Company until his retirement in 1973. During his tenure at Douglas Aircraft Company, Doug Wright Holland helped develop some of the most famous aircraft in history, including the DC-3, C-54 Skymaster, and F-4 Phantom II. Doug Wright Holland passed away on October 6th, 1992 at the age of 80
