Google Doodle Honors Baseball Greats with Google Play Game Awards

On July 17th, 2017, Google honored some of the most iconic and historic baseball players in history with a Google Doodle. The Google Play Game Awards were created to celebrate the best mobile games of the year and recognize the developers who create them. The list of awards includes best new game, best graphics, best design, best player experience and more.

It won the award for best new game and set a new record for most votes received in a single day (1.25 million). Other winners this year include “Super Mario Odyssey”, “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds”, “Monster Hunter World”, “Fortnite” and “Pokémon Go”.

Google Doodle Celebrates America’s Favorite Sport

Google has always been a company that puts its users first, and this extends to their Doodle program as well. On July 4th, Google celebrated America’s favorite sport with a custom baseball doodle. The Doodle features all of the key players in the American baseball scene, from Babe Ruth to Jackie Robinson.
Baseball is more than just a game- it’s an American tradition. For over 150 years, ballplayers have competed and strived for excellence on the diamond- and Google honored that history with their doodle. I grew up a big fan of baseball. My parents would take me to games all the time and I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved watching the players swing their bats and run around the bases.
