How does the B20 Forum work in Collaboration – Cross-Border E-Commerce for Global Women?

On June 17, 2022, the B20 Indonesia Ladies in Enterprise Motion Council (B20 WiBAC) held a discussion board on the topic of “Accelerating Inclusion of Ladies MSMEs in the International Financial System” to support long-term global financial growth that is inclusive, robust, and centered on the empowerment of women. On the panel, Diane Wang, Co-Chair of the B20 Indonesia Women in Business Movement Council and CEO of the DHgate Group, addressed the topic of digital talent training, professional females’ community, as well as multilateral cooperation to speed up cross-border information sharing and technical assistance in monetary, funding and digital inclusion for women MSMEs worldwide.

B20 Indonesia Chair Shinta Kamdani, Ira Noviarti of the B20 Indonesia Women in Business Motion Council, and CEO, President Director of Unilever Indonesia were among the other high-profile officials, private sector business leaders, business associations, non-profit organizations, philanthropic organizations, and other related stakeholders who attended the event. In all, 150 people attended the discussion board in person and almost 1,000 people participated online from G20 countries. There are enormous opportunities for women’s empowerment and more equitable involvement in the job market, financial markets, and entrepreneurship because of the rise of digital technology. Female workforce participation in growing economies is often driven by entrepreneurship. However, even in the G20’s most developed countries, the lack of female participation in higher education is preventing women from fully experiencing the benefits of digitalization. When it comes to women in entrepreneurship, a survey conducted by the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) found that more than half of the women surveyed said that they lacked ‘professional’ digital knowledge and more than half stated that they needed more training in digital tools.
