Massachusetts theater apologizes after Richard Dreyfus makes offensive remarks at ‘Jaws’ showing
Richard Dreyfuss controversy shared his thoughts on trans people and women, which many found offensive, at a theater in Massachusetts.
The Cabot Theatre in Beverly held a special showing of the 1975 movie ‘Jaws’ and invited its star, Richard Dreyfuss, to talk about the movie.
Instead of sharing fun stories, the 76-year-old actor made comments that people said were sexist and homophobic. This made many people in the audience upset, and they left the event.
The theater apologized for the incident.
We are sorry that an event meant to celebrate a famous movie turned into a discussion about political views. We take full responsibility for not predicting this, and we are sorry for the discomfort it caused,” said Cabot executive director J. Casey Soward.
We are talking with our audience about their experience and are committed to improving how we entertain, educate, and inspire our community.
